Craft Barn "Alpha/Dictionary" Challenge

The next letter for the Craft Barn challenge is "S" with the twist to include a shell.
One of my favourite bands is Sunset Sons (check them out they are really good :) ), so the decision was easy I went for Sunset.

I made a stencil of a 3/4 circle and used Distress Ink to create the sun. Then I marked up the sun and added 3 different DIs to the background. Sprayed everything with water to get the colours fade into each other a little bit. I stamped seagulls around the sun and shells as a kind of border.
Then I divided the page with striped Washi Tape and added the letters Sunset (the word Sons underneath the T) and the definition.

And last but not least, thanks so much (to Mr Random Generator) for picking my last entry as the winner. I've already spent the voucher on some Brushos and hope to play with them very soon. Yeah :)
Happy weekend and thanks for looking :)

The Craft Barn: Weekly Challenge

This year the
Craft Barn team is hosting weekly challenges as well and the first one is to create a Mini Album.
I decided to make a Travel Album and it will be a birthday present for a friend of mine. For the covers I've used corrugated cardboard glued to strong cardboard. I've decorated the covers front and back with travel images using Papermania stamps (coloured with Distress Inks) and postage stamps.

I've used Spellbinders papers for the insides of the covers and added some Crafty Individuals images and Washi Tape. The pages for the album are plastic pocket wallets and different note papers from Papermania. This was good fun.
Thanks for looking :)

Journal 52 - Week 4

I'm still working on the conversation (week 3) page, however I have finished the page for Week 4 at Journal 52. The prompt this week is to incorporate a silhouette.

For the background I've used several Distress Inks sprayed with water. For the sihouette I've used black VersaFine and scribbled some text on it, outlined with white Posca Pen. Then I added some pen stamps at one side of the page.

The words are from a stencil as well. Added some Washi Tape and draw a white border around the page.
Looking forward to next weeks prompt.
Thanks for looking.

Journal 52 - Week 2

The prompt for Week 2 at Journal 52 is: "just be": think about the word being and what it means to you. This might mean being your self and what makes you who you are, the things you do, or being present in the moment – it might mean just getting lost in the art of creating this week – that’s perfectly OK too!"

I think it's important to be happy with your life, yourself, what you do and so on. Even if it's not so easy sometimes. So I went for: Just be happy.

For the background I've used 3 different Distress Stains and stamped some wood grain on it. Then I cut out some letters to spell "Just be happy" and glued it on the page. To finish it off I added some Washi tape to one side.
Looking forward to next weeks prompt.
Thanks for looking.

The Craft Barn: Q & L Challenge

The weather is pretty bad today so I had plenty of time for the new challenge at the Craft Barn. The challenge this time is to use the words HUG and/or NOWHERE in a quote or lyric.
I knew immediately that I wanted to go with NOWHERE and to choose the lyrics from a song of a band which I discovered recently.
The band is "Canterbury" and the song is: "Going Nowhere". Check them out, they are really good. Their CD is on constant repeat in my car at the moment :)
I made another page in my journal and got the inspirations from an article in Craft Stamper. For the background I've used white and light blue acrylic paints and some gesso and blue paint with a stencil in the corners. Then added a couple of stamps and some Washi tape. Stamped 3 stars on red paper, cut them out and glued them to the page. Finally printed out the lyrics and added them as well.

The stamps are from Craft Stamper magazine, Sheena Douglas and Inkadinkado.
Thanks for looking :)

The Craft Barn: Q & L Challenge

Phew, I've just made it for the current challenge at the Craft Barn. The challenge is to use the words BETTER and/or PATIENCE in a quote or lyric.
I used the word BETTER and the quote is: It's better to live one day as a lion than a thousand years as a lamb.

The quote inspired Zack de la Rocha, the vocalist of Rage Against the Machine and Jon Theodore, former drummer of The Mars Volta to name their band "One day as a lion"
Please check them out on You tube here.

For this tag I added Memento ink directly to the background and sprinkled some gold Perfect Pearls over it. I've added some patterned paper to it and stamped the images on the tag. The stamps are from Viva Decor.

Looking forward to the new prompts tomorrow.
Thanks for looking :)

The Craft Barn: Q & L Challenge

After a wee break without any inspirations at all (I blame it on the weather, it's too hot for Scotland :) )  I managed to make another journal page for the

new Craft Barn Challenge.
The Challenge this time is to use the words MIND and/or IGNORANCE in a quote or lyric.

I was sure from the beginning that I wanted to use the word MIND for this one and I found a sheet of quotes (a freebie in a craft magazine) with the quote: "I can't get you out off my mind" on it. So I went for it.
For the background I used 2 Dylusion Inks and a harlequin stencil. The postcard and the image in the right top corner are from Crafty Individuals. The hearts are die cuts or Grunge Board and the border is a Washi tape. The frame with the lyric on is another freebie from a craft magazine.

Looking forward to see what everybody is making for this challenge.
Thanks for looking. :)

Stampotique Designer Challenge: SDC #145 Flowers

This card is for the new Stampotique Designer Challenge: SDC #145:Flowers.
The background are different Distress Inks, where I used a bit of water to make the splashes. The corner stamps are from Lili of the Valley.
I've used the same Distress Inks for the tag and Washi Tape for the borders. The flower stamp is from Crafty Individuals.

SimonSaysStamp Monday Challenge - Not so Mellow Yellow!

This journal page is for the Simon Says Stamp's Monday Challenge: Not so Mellow Yellow!
For the background I have used 2 different yellow acrylic paints, added Washi Tape for the border and the clock faces stamps are from Creative Expressions.
I've also used a couple of different pens for the rest of the page.
The quote is from John Lennon and I really love it.
