Craft Barn "Alpha/Dictionary" Challenge

The next letter for the Craft Barn challenge is "L". It took me some time to find a word for this, but in the end I went for "Label".

For the background I used a brayer with a Big and Juicy ink pad. Added some texture with my new Indigo Blu texture stamps. Then I stamped, cut out and inked labels from a Lili of the Valley stamp set and attached them on the background with some brads. Finally I added the word definition and fixed it with a label frame.

Craft Barn "Alpha/Dictionary" Challenge

The 2nd letter for the Craft Barn challenge is "Q". A bit tricky, but in the end I went for the word "Question".

I made a colour wash background with Distress Inks and used several stamps and stencils.
Then I stamped question marks all over the page. I coloured the chipboard letters and again used a stamp on the chipboards.
Finally I stamped and embossed another question mark and added the definition.
Again this was good fun.

Merry Monday Christmas Challenge: Angels/Cherubs

This weeks challenge on Merry Monday Christmas is "Angels/Cherubs".

For this card I've cut out 2 rectangular panels and embossed them with a Polka Dot folder. Then I glued both panels on a red card base. I stamped the angel with black VersaFine and used clear embossing powder. After that I used a red glitter pen to highlight some areas and added red adhesive stones.  I did the same with the sentiment piece. Finally I layered them with some red cardstock and glued the toppers on the card base.

The Craft Barn: Calendar Challenge

New Craft Barn prompts for April. They are BLUE and UMBRELLAS.
I've started with the background and added different blue Distress Inks on it. Then I used a brush and spritzed water all over it to create raindrop stains. After that I added the stitch border.

For the tag I used Distress Inks again, added the border and stamped the circles. The main image is from Tim Holtz stamped with VersaFine and embossed with clear embossing powder. I used the same DIs as for the tag and added the red ribbon. Then adhered everything to the background. Sorry for the slightly wonky scan, it's a bit too early in the morning :)

Less Is More: CASE a DT Card

A new card for the new Less is More Challenge - Week 216.
The Challenge this week is  to CASE a DT Card.

I decided to go for Chrissie's card. I really like the style.

So I die-cutted a square and a rectangle piece of cardstock and embossed the borders. Then I stamped the flowers and the quote with black VersaFine and embossed them with clear embossing powder. After that I coloured the flowers with Promarkers and adhered both panels on a white card base with foam pads. The stamps are from Papermania and Inkylicious.
This was a quick and fun card to make.

Less Is More: One Layer - Include an Animal

This card is for the new Less is More Challenge - Week 215.
The Challenge this week is a One Layer card with the theme: Include an Animal.
I always kind of struggle with One Layer cards, that's why I love to play at LIM from time to time. Gets me out of my comfort zone.

For this card I used Vintage Photo and Brushed Corduroy Distress Inks through a Harlequin stencil on a white card base. Then I used the quote stamp from Craft Stamper magazine with Black Onyx VersaFine and the butterfly stamp from Crafty Individuals with Rangers Big and Juicy Ink. I actually quite like the effect that the Harlequin pattern is showing through the butterflies.

Less Is More: One Layer - Starry, Starry Night

This card is for the new Less is More Challenge - Week 197.
The Challenge this week is a One Layer card with the theme: Starry, Starry Night.
I was experimenting with the Northern Lights technique lately and thought that would work well with some stars. So I masked up a rectangle spot on my card, stamped some stars with VersaMark and embossed them with clear embossing powder. Then I added the different colours for the Northern Lights effect with Distress Inks and VersaFine. Check the technique out here. It's good fun.

I've rubbed off the inks from the stars with a kitchen towel and added a border with a blue metallic ProMarker and the sentiment. Finally I filled in the stars with a clear Sakura gelly pen.

The Craft Barn: Q & L Challenge

It's time again for a new challenge at the Craft Barn. The challenge this time is to use the words MOON and/or SENSATION in a quote or lyric.
I did a search on Google and found "The Hanging Garden" by The Cure. I love the Cure (and this song) since I was a teenager so that was an easy one :)
The lyrics are:
Catching haloes on the moon
Gives my hands the shapes of angels
In the heat of the night
The animals scream
In the heat of the night
Walking into a dream . . .

I made another page in my journal and got the inspiration for the background once again from an article in Craft Stamper. I've stamped the moons and stars and heat embossed them afterwards. Added black paint all over the page and once nearly dry, I've rubbed the paint off the embossed images. Then added some gel medium through a stencil in some places and let it dry. After that I've applied some black gesso and white paint. I cut around the edges and glued the page to a black background. Wrote the band name and song title around the main page in white and added the printed out lyric.

This was good fun.

The Craft Barn: Q & L Challenge

It's time for the new challenge at the Craft Barn. The challenge is to use the words DESTINY and/or GIFT in a quote or lyric.
The quote I went for is from Leonardo Da Vinci: "I have always felt it is my destiny to build a machine that would allow man to fly."

I made another page in my art journal for this one. I found a great set of Da Vinci stamps from Stamp Addicts which are perfect for the quote.

I've made the main background using brown Distress Ink and a crackle background stamp from Crafty Individuals. I prepared the second background with a mix of Gesso and orange glaze. I then added some Distress Inks to it and used the Da Vinci background stamp with Staz-On inks.
I've heat embossed Da Vinci's head and printed out the quote and added both to the background.
Looking forward to see what everybody is doing with the new prompts.

Less Is More: Makes me smile!

Happy Easter everyone.
This card is for the new Less is More Challenge - Week 168 Recipe.
The Challenge is Makes me smile!

There are a couple of things why this card makes me happy:
First the colour combination and I just love heat embossing.
The stamp is from PaperArtsy and is one of my favourites. Looking at this cute cat just makes me smile and reminds me of the cat we had when I was a kid.
It's maybe a bit hard to read on the scan, but the quote says: "You know you love me" :)

For this card I've used a Rangers Big & Juicy ink pad and a brayer, Cosmic Shimmer gold embossing powder and Candi.

I'm afraid the gold embossing is not easy to spot on the scan. I've added a
larger image of the cat and hope it's easier to see.
